Pre examination syllabus and pattern: pre examination of HPPSC will comprise two question papers. All questions will be objective type and MCQ based.

Question paper 1: this paper contains 100 objective type questions which will carry maximum 200 marks. Questions will be asked from general study GS subject.

Question paper 2: questions of Aptitude test will carry 200 marks for 100 objective type questions.

Question will be asked from following subjects

Paper-I General Studies

History, geography, political, art & culture and socio economic development of Himachal Pradesh.

Currents events of national and international importance. History of India and Indian national movement.

Indian and World Geography-physical, social, economic geography of India and the world.

Indian polity and governance –Constitution, political system, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights issues, etc.

Economic and social development – sustainable development poverty, inclusion, demographics, social sector initiatives, etc.

General issues on environmental ecology, bio-diversity and climate Change – that do not require subject specialization General science.

Aptitude test paper 2 syllabus:

Comprehension

Interpersonal skills including communication skills , Logical reasoning and analytical ability ,Decision making and problem solving ,General mental ability

Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of Magnitude etc. (Class X level), Data interpretation (charts, Graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. – Class X level).

English Language comprehension skills (Class X level)

Negative marking: minus marking will be applicable in this examination. For each incorrect answer ¼ marks will be deducted as minus marking.

Total 2 hr time duration will be given for attempting the question paper.

20 times and 3 times of proposed no of vacancy candidates will be declared qualified in preliminary examination and mains examination successively.

Examination Centre: The Preliminary Examination will be held at the following Centers:- SHIMLA, SOLAN, MANDI, SUNDER NAGAR, PALAMPUR, KANGRA, DHARAMSALA, NAHAN, UNA, HAMIRPUR, CHAMBA, BILASPUR AND KULLU.
