More than one crore workers are taking advantage of various schemes by registering online on the e-shram portal.
In less than a month, more than one crore workers have been registered on the e-shram portal. Last month on August 26, the Ministry of Labor and Employment had launched the portal to facilitate the workers of the unorganized sectors. Till Sunday, 1,03,12,095 workers were registered on the portal. Of these, 57% are male and 43% are female workers. Bihar is leading in the registration work. Bihar is followed by Orissa, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.
According to the Economic Survey of the financial year 2022-23, there are about 38 crore workers in the unorganized sector in the country and a target has been set to register these workers on this portal so that these workers can take advantage of all kinds of social security schemes at their workplace. If there is a unified figure of workers, government help can be given to these workers in difficult circumstances.
At present, the workers who are registered on the portal are being given the benefit of accident insurance up to two lakhs.
