By registering on the e-shram portal, our laborers can take advantage of many government schemes. For this reason, in two months, 5 crore workers have done registration on the e-shram portal. In the last two months, more than five crore workers have registered on the e-shram portal. This is the first national database related to workers working in the unorganized sector.
Who can register on e-shram portal
All workers can register themselves who are involved in the transport sector including construction, apparel industry, fishing, street vending, domestic work, agriculture and allied activities. In some areas, workers with a large number of migrant workers can also get registered.
Agriculture and construction are the two sectors with which the maximum number of people are engaged. All the unorganized workers including migrant workers can now take benefits of various social security and employment based schemes through registration on the e-shram portal.
Major states which are providing facilities under this scheme
So far 5.72 crore workers have registered. Of this, 50.94 percent are women and 49.06 percent are men. Most people have registered from Bengal, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh.
However, among smaller states and union territories, there is a lack of awareness in Meghalaya, Manipur, Goa, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh and Tripura.
How to Apply for E-Shram Card
For online registration, workers can use e-Shram's mobile application and website which is https://eshram.gov.in/home. Along with this, they can also register by visiting the Common Service Centers (CSCs), State Service Centers, Shram Suvidha Kendras and Digital Seva Kendras opened in selected post offices in their vicinity.
