NIOS DelEd stuck on the first step to become a teacher
There is a lot of problem in fulfilling the expectation of appearing in the written examination of teacher recruitment. One and a half lakh NIOS DElEd pass candidates have been declared ineligible at the first stage of Primary Teacher recruitment.
The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) has not been recognized for appearing in the Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET), while the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) has approved the course in January itself. Only those candidates can appear in the written examination of teacher recruitment of primary schools of Basic Education Council, who have passed the TET of the central or state. The candidates who have done DElEd course from NIOS have not got this opportunity so far, whereas in this examination, those Shikshamitras who had done DElEd through correspondence have been given this opportunity, due to the rules of NCTE. On this basis, the Government of Bihar State had also canceled the applications of some NIOS D.El.Ed. Those candidates reached the High Court and the court had ruled in their favor. After this, NCTE Deputy Secretary T Pritam Singh sent a letter to the Chief Secretaries of all the states on January 6, saying that they can validate NIOS D.El.Ed.
If some candidates challenged the rules of UPTET, then the court has directed to include the petitioners. Examination Regulatory Authority Secretary Sanjay Upadhyay said that he has sent a proposal to the government to direct the applicants to be included in the UPTET.
What is the side of the government
Basic Education Minister Dr. Satish Kumar Dwivedi has said that the matter is related to State policy. Will consider what orders and suggestions have been given by the court, NCTE and the examination body. Accordingly, the government will take the appropriate decision.
