Fake applicants in the family benefit scheme have been heavily curbed this time. This year only Rs 209 crore has been spent out of 500 crore. The remaining amount has been earmarked for the general category. The collusion of many officers and employees has also come to the fore.
After the disclosure of fraud in the family benefit scheme of the social welfare department of the state, a lot of prevention has been put in place against the fake applicants of this scheme in the current financial year.

In May-June last year, frauds worth crores of rupees were exposed in the family benefit scheme in many districts including Lucknow, Kanpur, Ayodhya. Under this scheme, on the death of the earning head of the family living below the poverty line, a lump sum assistance of Rs 30,000 is provided to his widow or other dependents by the state government.
In these districts, dozens of such women and dependents were given the benefit of the scheme, whose husband or earning head of the family was alive. The complicity of officers was also exposed in this fraud. In the current financial year, a provision of Rs 500 crore was made under the family benefit scheme, out of which only Rs 209 crore could be spent, because this time there were less applications in the scheme.
